Bouncing Betty Placement
Quite an important topic that I nearly missed!
For a sniper, sometimes your pistol may let you down and that’s why Bouncing Betties are there! These pressure-activated mines are extremely annoying and unbelievably helpful.
You can’t always watch your back so having a bit of sure-fire defense is always good. However, to have this proper defense, you have to place these mines in secret places. I will reveal this secret, which is not so secret
Behind Barrels
Very hard to see (except with Bomb Squad) but even then, it’s hard to detonate them without taking damage. Place one behind a barrel and you’re good to go. A good example of this in at Castle in the Marine Raider’s spawn. On either side of the spawn, there are two paths leading down and around to center. There are barrels on both sides that you can place a Bouncing Betty near and you are pretty much guaranteed some defense.
Behind Red, Explosive Barrels
For obvious reasons, placing a Bouncing Betty behind one of these barrels is nearly guaranteed a kill if activated. Place the mine behind the barrel in relation to your enemy and watch the explosion from a distance. On Hanger, when approaching the center from the South, there is a red explosive barrel. If fighting is continuing there, place a Bouncing Betty and retreat a bit behind allies. BOOM! And you’ll get a kill or two!
In Grass
Bouncing Betties have a shiny, golden stem that protrudes from the top like a sore thumb. However, place one of these in some grass and your enemies will want to stop and smell the roses. When they do, BOOM! Seriously though, the mine is well camouflaged and if placed correctly, can inflict a lot of damage. On Courtyard, for example, there are a lot of patches of grass to place these mines and get some kills!
Around Corners
Most obviously, placing a Bouncing Betty around a corner where an enemy will turn will get your enemies by surprise. Although this may seem cheap, it gets you kills and they (the enemy) should’ve been more prepared. A good Bouncing Betty placement will be undetectable but still have a large enough blast radius to kill your opponent. I don’t think there is a concrete example of this since it can be performed on absolutely every map.
On Objectives
Placing a Bouncing Betty on or near an objective can be deadly. Most of the time, unsuspecting victims simply walk right onto the mines are blown sky-high.
-In Capture the Flag, try not to place the BB directly on the flag base. Even thought it is quite camouflaged, most people throw grenades at the flag to clear it out before running in.
-In Headquarters, place Bouncing Betties defensively. If using Martyrdom, do not place the mines in the vicinity of your dropped grenade. If you know you’re going to die, place a BB as close to the bomb as possible. If correctly placed, very little can be seen and may give your team an extra few points.
-In Search and Destroy, definitely place Bouncing Betties on, near or around the explosives (if on defense). If on the offense (planting), place Bouncing Betties in the pathways where enemies may walk past.
-In Domination, like in CTF, try not to place the mines directly at the flag bases. Place the Bouncing Betties sneakily around so they will get their mark on the sneaky enemies.
